About Christina

Yoga hasn’t always been part of my life. In fact it came quite late, when I was going through challenging times.

I first started with Hatha yoga, which I practiced for a number of years. This lead me to do my formal yoga trainings. The first one with Dr. Sanjay from the Kaivalyadhama school in Lonavla Pune, India, with whom I learnt the importance of alignment and the right gestures for gentle and effective adjustments. The second, a Sivananda teacher training, where I spent a month at the ashram studying asanas, pranayamas and philosophy.

And then I came across Ashtanga yoga according to the traditional Mysore style method, where the teaching is transmitted individually from teacher to student, and where over time, the student develops an autonomous practice. I was fortunate enough to assist one of my teachers in her Mysore room, allowing me to continue my training with her on a daily basis.

But to this day, my best training is certainly the field of exploration of my daily practice in which I remain above all a dedicated and passionate student.

My passion

Sukha retreats are born from three passions of mine (yoga, art and personal development) and a strong desire to convey a way of living that has drastically improved my life.

I had the chance to go through an expatriation for several years. This has been totally disruptive for me. I discovered yoga and a whole new world to wellbeing. I had the chance to be guided by inspiring and knowledgeable teachers who taught me the transformational power of a daily yoga practice.

In addition to this I had time to nourish my long time artistic fibre and decided to study during several months with the Royal Botanical Garden of Edinburg to learn the skills of botanical illustration.

Explained like this, the expat-wife life seems amazing, yet I had my dark moments, asking myself, what exactly is my purpose.  This is how I started to dig into personal development, understood certain tools, put them into practice and witnessed the change.

Therefore it's very naturally that this whole story unfolds in a desire to create a platform where I can welcome all these amazing people who influenced my life so positively and share this with others.
